Volunteers are the backbone of the Westwind 4-H program. No previous experience is necessary — just an interest in horses and children, and a desire to help. Volunteer opportunities include sidewalking, horse care, and more. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. We also welcome volunteers interested in helping with social media, 4-H coordination, grant writing, and fundraising events.
We provide an orientation and a safety training class for all volunteers. Orientation sessions are held in the main barn in the community room rain or shine. Training sessions meet in the community room and are held in the upper arena. Check the session schedule for orientation and training days/times.
To learn more about volunteer roles, please download and read this PDF. These topics are covered in the orientation and safety training class at the beginning of each session.
Thank you for considering our program. We think that you will find working as a Westwind volunteer rewarding and fun!
“I have loved working with the riders and other volunteers. I really feel like my work with Westwind has been very rewarding and that I have made a difference in the lives of the riders”
